Our mission: To reach the least of these with the Gospel of Jesus Christ through praise and worship, the preaching of God’s Word and a powerful prison testimony.
Inside the Razorwire: Sing for the King Ministries, first and foremost, ministers in prisons. They provide weekly services for Algoa Correctional Center in Jefferson City and Kansas City Reentry Center in Kansas City; monthly they lead services at Boonville Correctional Center in Boonville, MO and Jefferson City Correctional Center, the maximum security prison, in Jefferson City. They visit Moberly Correctional Center and Missouri Eastern Correctional Center quarterly and other prisons throughout the year. Along with these services, they participate in prison baptism services and memorial services. Sing for the King also schedules prison concerts at various prisons with bands willing to give their time and talents.
Outside the Razorwire: Since beginning this ministry in mid-2016, Sing for the King has had many opportunities to do ministry outside prison walls. From homeless shelters, rescue missions, revivals, conferences, celebrate recovery meetings and more, Sing for the King has had the honor to share the Gospel and minister to those who have been affected by incarceration whether in their own family or life.
Johnny Allen is a walking testimony for prison ministry. During his incarceration at a maximum security prison Johnny surrendered his life to Jesus. After his release Johnny felt called to give away what he had been given, the life-changing power of the Gospel. He has been testifying in prisons for the past several years and is living proof that men in prison can experience real change through the power of Jesus Christ. Johnny is currently working for City Union Mission empowering men to rebuild their lives in Christ.
Listen to Johnny’s Story:
Christy Hoagland is a singer, songwriter, and worship leader. Christy started writing music in 2016 using God’s Word. She began leading these songs in prisons and at other venues and was overwhelmed at the impact they were making in the lives of offenders and others. She is donating a copy of her newly released album to every institution in Missouri to encourage offenders and point them to Jesus and the Bible. Christy has a Certificate in Worship Ministry from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and along with leading worship in prisons leads worship at conferences, church events, revivals and serves on the worship team at her church, Cornerstone Baptist Church in Sedalia, MO. She relishes every opportunity to sing for her King and is in awe of Him every day for using her in worship and prison ministry.
James Hoagland is a licensed, ordained minister that has a passion for prison ministry. He has studied at Liberty University and served in many pastoral roles with youth, children, & families. James preaches God’s Word in prisons and at revivals, churches, shelters and other services and events.
James and Christy have been married for over 25 years and have two wonderful, grown boys – Cameron (wife, Danii) and Christian (wife, Sydney) and granddaughter, Faye.

“Sing for the King Ministries recently began leading our 3rd Sunday evening CG main worship service, and have immediately become our most popular worship leaders/preachers. They are really easy to work with…they have servant hearts…and their worship leadership and preaching is phenomenal! Christy Hoagland is a fabulous worship leader and soloist! James is a great preacher and Johnny Allen identifies with the offenders in a very real way!! If you want your offenders to meet with Jesus, I recommend that you invite Sing for the King Ministries to conduct a worship service or concert!” – Chaplain, JCCC (February 2017)

“I found Jesus on April 14, 2016 at Algoa Correctional and was baptized on July 20, 2016. Upon release from prison, the bad people I used to hang around showed up. I kept quoting resist the devil and he will flee from you and after a few weeks those people disappeared and my ministry took off full blast, I am now actually involved in a church. I thank God that He saved me, seven years of incarceration, seven different times…I faced death many times, but Jesus Christ set me free and today I praise Him, praise Him, Hallelujah! I pray that everyone that walks out of prison will walk out of there with the armor of God and carry their Bible, their sword and know that Jesus Christ is beside them. Thank you James, Johnny, and Christy.” – Offender L.
“Still clean! Still praising our Lord and finding freedom! Thank you all for your service and carrying the Word of God! It changed my life! Thank you, thank you! God bless!” – Offender E.
“I came to chapel every Friday night. James, Christy and Johnny, you helped me grow my faith and relationship with God.” – Offender E.
